Remembering
Erik Rhodes
I wish I could remember the first time I saw Erik Rhodes as it would no doubt be a hair raising memory, catching an eyeful of a man that embodied beauty and the beast you wanted to devour you, and I know I'm not alone when I say that an instant attraction to Erik was a virtual guarantee. I finally had the pleasure of meeting him when he came to LA in 2009 to film LA Zombie. He came to Cocktails With The Stars as a guest, co-staring with fellow industry heavyweights Matthew Rush and Fracesco D’Macho. I was so nervous that I was thankful to have friends Matthew and Francesco there to keep from making a stammering fool of myself during introductions. To my very pleasant surprise
Erik was just as shy as I was. Polite and funny, we both seemed to combat our anxiety with humor and it was immediately endearing.
A few weeks later, Scotty B and I were invited to the set of Falcon's movie Pledgemaster: The Hazing where Erik and Nash Lawler volunteered to give us a tour of the house since they were both horror movie buffs and had both recently seen the horror movie that had been shot in the house, the remnants of which were still marking the creepy mansion. Of all the videos I’ve shot for NickYoungXXX, that one has always been my favorite and I have included it below with some others.
Refraining from reminiscing in all the details, the point to my ramblings is simply that Scotty and I only spent a handful of time with Erik during our tenure in the industry but each time he was genuine, thoughtful and kind. Never a Diva, always humble and always sprinkling wit and a careful smile. We always looked forward to seeing you on our red carpet in Chicago Erik and always had kind words to say about you at Cocktails With The Stars. I would be lying if I said that the Adult firmament wasn’t glowing much dimmer for me now that you're not in it. Thank you for your generosity of spirit to the little people and I hope that you’ve found some peace.
Wednesday June 20th we will be remembering Erik Rhodes at Micky’s Cocktails With The Stars in West Hollywood. Please join us if you can and share your stories and remembrances. I’ll be assembling a video reel of footage I’ve collected over the years including some of the stuff that previously made its way to the cutting room floor.
